I don't think there should be two "everyone"s. When I open the Get Info Finder window for the Safari app, it does show something I've never seen before: 4 lines in the Sharing & Permissions section: Running First Aid on the drive has yet to reveal any issues. Every time I open it, it presents the exact same pair of windows (the main browser window with several tabs open and the Preferences window showing the Manage Website Data. I'm mostly stumped by how Safari knows what windows I had open the last time it crashed if I've removed all the Preference, Cache, etc. Safari still crashes within a second of its windows appearing. I've read through as many fixes for this as I can find, including removing the entire Safari folder within the ~/Library folder, starting up in Safe Mode, and creating a 2nd admin account (Safari works fine on that one, if that's a clue for anything) MacOS shows no updates available. Safari closes immediately after application launch Safari closes immediately after application launch I'm due for a new MacBook Pro in 5 months so I may just wait it out. I've very technical so I have no problem doing more investigation but just not sure what is next. Other than going to an Apple store I'm at a loss for what to do. At this point the disk tests as okay and I've not seen any permission issues but this type of problem still exists. And, I used the on boot ability to do a disk scan and did get an error that at the moment I can't recall what it was. One thing to note is that before wiping everything clean I could see permission errors in some folders and in particular where Safari extensions are stored. Everything was reinstalled, I did not restore from a backup. And there are other issues similar where certain settings just don't stick.ĭuring the holidays I reformatted the drive and installed the OS from scratch. You check application preferences and where they have an option to start on login that is now unchecked even though they were set to do so before. Apps that are set to start on login may or may not do so. Similarly, many other settings keep disappearing. ![]() I've seen this pattern as well where you reboot and they may then come back and then the next time you reboot they go away. They are there and then during the course of the day they are gone. I have a MacBookPro that is 1.5 years old and sometime last year I started having issues where while working Safari extensions would just disappear. Disappearing Safari Extensions, Other App Settings, Etc.
